AvtoVAZ Introduces Lada Vesta with a 1.8-L Evo Engine and CVT

AvtoVAZ has begun mass production of the Lada Vesta equipped with a new 1.8-liter Evo engine delivering 122 horsepower and paired with an automatic transmission. The company announced this update through its press service, highlighting a dedicated calibration of the engine and transmission control systems specifically for the Lada Vesta lineup.

The new power unit and the automatic transmission, which features a continuously variable mechanism, are integrated across the entire Vesta family, covering all body styles. To accommodate these enhancements, AvtoVAZ modernized the vehicle’s fuel system and braking architecture. Details on sales start dates, trim configurations, and pricing were not disclosed. The manufacturer did confirm that the initial batch of two-pedal vehicles with the new powerplant rolled off the assembly line at the Togliatti plant.

Previously, production of Lada with automatic transmission halted in 2022 after foreign suppliers ceased collaboration. This year, it became known that AvtoVAZ began equipping Lada Vesta cars in the basic configuration with cruise control. The Speed Control feature assists in maintaining a steady vehicle speed without continuous accelerator input, enhancing convenience on long drives.

In a separate incident this past month, a Lada Vesta from the State Duma fleet was involved in a collision. The vehicle collided with another car, and the impact also affected a Gazelle nearby, illustrating the real-world scenarios in which these cars operate.

Earlier, there were images circulating in the Rospatent database associated with the Lada Iskra concept, marking a point of interest for observers following AvtoVAZ developments.

Sources within AvtoVAZ indicate ongoing efforts to expand modernization across the Vesta range, focusing on performance improvements, safety features, and compatibility with evolving regulatory and market demands. [Source: AvtoVAZ press materials; regulatory and industry reporting]
