Kia EV6: Russia Approval, Market Plans, and Specification Overview
The Kia EV6 has gained vehicle type approval in Russia, signaling the brand’s continued commitment to introducing this electric hatchback to the market. The model remains on the company’s radar as a key player in its global electrification strategy and is expected to arrive in the North American and broader markets as originally planned.
Dealers are currently offering two rear wheel drive configurations and two all wheel drive variants. The rear driven versions feature a single motor on the rear axle, while the all wheel drive models pair an additional motor on the front axle to drive both ends of the car.
Power figures for the rear wheel drive EV6 are 170 horsepower in one setup and 228 horsepower in another. The battery capacity in these trims allows for a travel distance of roughly 510 kilometers on a single charge, depending on driving style and conditions.
All wheel drive variants push performance higher with three distinct output levels: 235, 325, and 585 horsepower. The latest AWD configuration is capable of covering up to about 380 kilometers per full charge, offering a blend of performance and efficiency suitable for daily commuting and longer trips alike.
Two battery options are available for these versions. One pack holds 58 kilowatt hours, while the larger 77.4 kilowatt hour option offers greater range and flexibility for diverse usage patterns. The key takeaway is that the available capacity directly influences the driving range, with larger batteries enabling longer travel between charges.
To sustain strong demand for the EV6, Kia intends to build a network of its own charging stations. This initiative aims to provide convenient access to charging infrastructure, reinforcing the viability of electric driving for both city commuting and longer journeys. The company is positioning the EV6 as a practical, everyday electric vehicle with a broad range of powertrain choices and battery options designed to meet a wide spectrum of customer needs.
