The Kaiyi E5, a new compact sedan from a Chinese brand, is rolling out at the Avtotor plant in Kaliningrad. The launch marks the first wave of deliveries from the updated Kaiyi lineup, as reported by the Quto.ru portal.
In this early phase, buyers will find the Kaiyi E5 only in its top-level configuration. Under the hood sits a 1.5-liter gasoline turbo engine delivering 147 horsepower, paired with a continuously variable transmission that imitates nine fixed gear shifts when the driver selects manual mode.
Standard equipment in this initial offering includes modern LED headlights, 17-inch alloy wheels, and a 10.25-inch infotainment display. Convenience features such as a keyless entry system with an engine start button, cruise control with a speed limiter, and a wireless charging pad are complemented by an electric sunroof. Safety is addressed with front and front side airbags, rear parking sensors, and a surround camera system. Climate control and heated front seats round out the comfort-focused package.
Production of the Chinese Kaiyi sedan at Avtotor began at the end of January this year. Industry observers noted that by midyear the Kaiyi lineup is expected to expand with X3 and X3 Pro compact crossovers joining the range, as reported by Quto.ru. This move suggests a broader strategy to bring Chinese engineering to the Russian market while expanding local manufacturing capabilities.
