Ivan Mironov, who previously served as a senior adviser to the president of JSC AvtoVAZ, was born in Saratov in 1985. He later took on the role of general manager of the Lada production site in St. Petersburg, a move announced by the brand’s press office on a Thursday in March. This appointment follows his earlier work at AvtoVAZ, where he played a key part in aligning the St. Petersburg site with the company’s broader manufacturing ecosystem.
Mironov’s early career began in Saratov, where he completed his studies at Saratov State Agrarian University in 2007, earning a degree from the Faculty of Economics. His academic path continued with studies at NI Vavilova, culminating in a degree in economics and business management, and later he earned a law degree from Saratov State Law Academy in 2012. These studies laid a foundation for his later responsibilities in corporate strategy and manufacturing coordination.
He joined AvtoVAZ in mid-2022, assuming the role of senior adviser to the company’s president. In that capacity, he oversaw critical initiatives, including the integration of the former Nissan Manufacturing RUS plant in St. Petersburg into AvtoVAZ’s corporate structure. The work involved aligning production capabilities, supply chain processes, and regional partnerships to support the broader expansion strategy for the Lada brand.
Newly reported corporate developments highlight AvtoVAZ’s continued growth trajectory. In February 2023, the company completed the acquisition of 99% of Nissan Manufacturing RUS, consolidating ownership of the plant. According to AvtoVAZ leadership, the second half of 2023 was expected to see the launch of C- and D-segment vehicle production under the Lada name at the St. Petersburg facility. The plan includes localizing these new models by 2024 to 2027 and leveraging more than thirty regional suppliers to supply components and systems.
Industry updates from 2023 indicated ambitious production targets for the St. Petersburg site. It was anticipated that the factory would reach an annual output around 10,000 vehicles initially, with the goal of growing toward a much higher cadence in the following years. Such expansion aligns with AvtoVAZ’s broader strategy to increase domestic manufacturing capacity, diversify product lines, and strengthen the regional supply network. The ongoing integration efforts and the leadership changes at the Lada facility reflect the company’s commitment to building a robust, self-reliant production ecosystem in Russia while maintaining alignment with global industry standards. These steps are also correlated with the region’s automotive supplier base, which includes over 30 local firms supporting the plant’s modernization and scale-up. [Citation: AvtoVAZ press office]
