The Dacia lineup, under the Renault umbrella, has refreshed its third generation Duster crossover. Built on the CMF-B platform, the refreshed Duster arrives in four distinct trim levels, offering a balance between value, practicality, and modern tech that US and Canadian buyers look for in a compact SUV. The move to the CMF-B architecture brings improved rigidity, safer crash design, and better integration of driver assistance systems, while keeping the Duster’s reputation for affordable versatility front and center.

After the recent platform shift seen with the Sandero, Logan, and the Jogger, the Duster follows suit with a refined chassis and updated all wheel drive system. The new crossover features an all wheel drive transmission that supports five selectable modes. Snow and mud drive modes optimize grip on slippery surfaces, while a sand setting helps with traction on loose terrain. An off road mode is tailored for rougher, uneven surfaces, and there are two fuel efficiency focused options: a dedicated automatic Eco mode and a standard fuel saving configuration for everyday driving. This array of modes is designed to assist drivers in Canada and the United States who encounter diverse weather and road conditions throughout the year.

Power for the Duster comes from a choice of four engines. The Hybrid 140 version combines a 1.6 liter gasoline engine with a 49 horsepower electric motor and a 94 horsepower internal combustion unit, supported by a starter generator, resulting in a compact hybrid setup that emphasizes efficiency without sacrificing everyday performance. For traditional gasoline power, a 1.2 liter three cylinder turbo engine can be paired with a six speed transmission. This configuration is available for both front wheel drive and all wheel drive variants, delivering a balance of strong urban responsiveness and capable highway performance. Additionally, a liquefied petroleum gas option is available for the Duster, offering a lower cost per kilometer and appealing to buyers seeking an alternative fuel solution while keeping emissions in check.

In related automotive news, Toyota recently reintroduced the Land Cruiser 70 series in the Japanese market, a move that underscores a renewed interest in rugged, purpose built SUVs across different segments. This trend mirrors the Dacia Duster’s ongoing appeal in markets that prioritize practicality and off road capability in compact crossovers.
