Chery plans to debut a new model in the Russian market. The information surfaced on a Telegram channel that follows the company closely. A published photo features the Tiggo 4 Pro crossover with the caption Coming Soon, hinting at a fresh entry on the Russian stage.
In 2023, the Tiggo 4 Pro received updates that touched both its exterior and interior. The facelift removed the bold red accents from the front bumper and the underbody area, while wheel designs were refreshed. Inside, upholstery was refreshed as well, giving the cabin a more modern feel.
Current Russian-market versions of the Chery Tiggo 4 Pro are equipped with a 1.5-liter gasoline engine delivering about 113 horsepower, paired with either a manual transmission or a CVT. In the two higher trim levels, the crossover adopted a 1.5-liter turbocharged engine producing around 147 horsepower, with an automatic shifter. It remains unclear which powertrains will be offered with the upcoming model in Russia.
Research insights from Avto.ru Business highlight one notable advantage of modern Chinese cars: their rich equipment lists. This point underscores the appeal of many Chinese crossovers in terms of standard features and pack-in value.
According to the study, the Haval Jolion in the Premium configuration stands out as the most generously equipped among Chinese crossovers in the basic option set. In contrast, the Chery Tiggo 4 Pro in the Travel configuration was identified as having fewer standard features among the compared models. The study notes that Chinese crossovers account for a significant portion of the Russian market, with a share around 24 percent for such vehicles in the overall market. At the same time, Chinese cars as a group hold a substantial share, approximately 61 percent, of the Russian automotive market.
Earlier reports indicated a pause in supplies. In January, shipments of five Chinese car models to Russia were halted, impacting available options for local buyers.
