AVTOVAZ, the Russian automaker, plans to equip its vehicles with automatic transmissions in 2024 while restoring the Electronic Stability Control System (ESP) to its lineup.
According to Maxim Sokolov, the chairman of AvtoVAZ, the company will bring back ESP alongside an automatic transmission during the upcoming year. The specific type of automatic transmissions that will be used in Lada models has not been disclosed.
Historically, AVTOVAZ relied on the Japanese supplier Jatco for automatic transmissions. However, deliveries of these aggregates to Russia were halted this spring. Currently, the assembly line processes include only car mechanics, with other components experiencing supply disruptions. The situation underscores broader challenges in maintaining production continuity under these conditions.
Requires 7,000 tires in popular sizes
Without tire supplies, public order and essential services cannot be reliably sustained, and medical care for those in need can be compromised.
In collaboration with the “Behind the Wheel” program and the Popular Front, funds are being raised to purchase tires for the Vehicles of the People’s Police and for the operational services of the LPR and DPR. These tires will support ambulances, the Ministry of Emergency Situations, and vehicles delivering humanitarian aid to residents of Donbass, as well as army equipment.
