Electric scooters and other similar devices have received a special status – means of individual mobility (SIM). You may drive them at a speed of no more than 25 km/h. At the same time, the mass of such electric transport, which is allowed to travel on sidewalks, bicycle paths and pedestrian paths, must not exceed 35 kg, according to a message on the government’s website.
In order to regulate the movement of SIM (allow, restrict or prohibit movement) on such vehicles in certain areas, there will be special road signs. They must be installed by local authorities depending on the location and availability of road infrastructure.
Pedestrians have priority when moving together. Drivers of personal mobility aids will have to calculate their speed based on this. When crossing a zebra crossing, users of electric scooters and other SIM cards will have to get off, now this is laid down in the traffic rules.
Electric scooters of any weight are allowed to drive on the right side of the roadway. But this is only allowed for people over the age of 14 and where the speed limit is limited to 60 km/h, and cyclists are also allowed. A scooter or other device that moves on the road must have a braking system and white and red headlights.
The new status does not apply to regular scooters and roller skates. Their owners are still treated as pedestrians.
islands of safety
A complete ban on moving, stopping and parking on guide islands and safety islands has been implemented. This improves road visibility and road safety.
Two new plates
The changes also approved two new road signs. One of them indicates the charging of electric vehicles, and the second informs about the ban on buses. The appearance is the result of the practice of restricting the traffic of buses in the host cities of the 2018 FIFA World Cup. However, this sign does not prohibit the traffic of buses along public transport routes and school buses.
