In Moscow, work is being done on the issue of testing knowledge of the rules of the road for cyclists and scooters. This was stated by the deputy head of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia UGIBDD for Moscow Evgeny Loginovsky, reports TASS.

“Now a package of documents is being prepared that regulates and introduces the concept of individual mobility vehicles in general, various solutions are being developed there,” Loginovsky explained. “Such an initiative is being developed, including on the initiative of Moscow.” state.”

He said the matter is under investigation. At the same time, the UGIBDD vice-president described the problem as multifaceted and warned that such control could lead to “distortion”.

“So they’re working on this problem now and they’re working pretty hard,” said Loginovsky. “Not by the end of the year, but we’ll see something next year.”

In Russia, the legal status of individual mobility vehicles, including electric scooters, has not yet been determined.

For the first 6 months of 2022, according to the Road Safety Science Center, in an accident caused by electric scooters, unicycles, segways and other self-mobility vehicles (SIMs) dead six people and 382 people were injured. Traffic accidents were classified as collisions with pedestrians in 78.8% of cases and as collisions in 13.5%. In 32% of cases, accidents occurred at pedestrian crossings, in 31% of cases – at exits and intersections from the adjacent territory.
