And from the beginning of the system to the JSC GLONASS contact center more than 24 million messages were received, said Roman Rulev, director of the subscription service division at JSC GLONASS.

Every day, call center agents receive and process more than 40,000 emergency calls.

In 2022, about 80% of calls needed by emergency services were received automatically when drivers and passengers were unable to call for help themselves.

During the operation of the response system, rescue workers needed more than 226 thousand calls from motorists. Most of these messages come from the regions of the Central, Volga and Northwestern Federal Districts.

Today, the direct transmission of the exact coordinates of the accident sites to the emergency services is guaranteed thanks to the constant automated interaction of ERA-GLONASS and System-112 in 84 of the 85 regions of Russia. The interconnection of systems in the Smolensk region will be completed before November this year.

About 4% of all emergency calls received by the ERA-GLONASS Contact Center were made by witnesses to incidents or violations. This figure is increasing every year.

Car owners with the SOS button do not only seek help in the event of an accident.

Examples of the most common non-accident calls:

  • need an ambulance to the car on the road or home when you are unable to get through from a mobile phone
  • a taxi driver needs help in conflict situations with passengers or during an attack;
  • lost or stuck on the way
  • eyewitnesses report fires in residential buildings or in forest areas
  • the assistance of road services is required during ice, blizzard, snowfall, as well as in cases where the traffic light does not work or a tree has fallen on the roadway
  • Eyewitnesses to crimes on the street ask to call the police
  • reports of unattended children in cars.
