At the beginning of the week, the regional government discussed the results of the development of the real sector of the region’s economy in the first half of 2022. According to the region’s Ministry of Economic Development and Industry, the situation in the automotive sector remains industry difficult – 19 companies are partially or completely inactive.
According to Deputy Governor Vladimir Popov, the main reason is the lack of components and the contraction of the market. The situation in the region is affected by the sanctions and economic restrictions imposed, Kaluga24.tv reports.
Despite the shutdown of car assembly plants, the overall decline in industrial production in the region is only 5.2%. This was achieved thanks to an increase in the production of machinery and equipment, metal products, medicines and clothing. The growth in production is observed in the wood processing industry.
Compared to mid-April, the number of inactive companies has decreased. Then there were 33 inactive companies and 7,353 people worked for them. Vladimir Popov did not specify how many people are now forcibly inactive.
Recall that the city-building enterprises of Kaluga’s auto industry are the factories of the Volkswagen concern, PSMA Rus (Peugeot, Citrine, Mitsubishi) and Volvo Trucks.
