The Public Chamber announced the collection of proposals for writing new traffic rules. The aim of the project is to create a set of rules that takes into account the interests of the majority of road users.
For a month and a half, social activists received more than 200 messages from Russians, Parlamentskaya Gazeta reports.
Most of the proposals relate to determining the status of electric scooters. Most initiators agree that the speed for these vehicles should not exceed 25 kilometers per hour. The majority also insist that scooter riders should wear helmets and take off their headphones while riding.
Another popular amendment concerns those who bypass traffic on the side of the road. Judging by the reports, this category of drivers is causing a wave of outrage. They are asked to impose a fine of up to 5000 rubles. For repeated violations, it is proposed to increase the penalty to 30 thousand.
But trucks that drive too slowly along the highway are allowed to overtake. This requires heavy trucks to turn to the right and pass vehicles behind.
Public activists noted that the collection of popular amendments will continue. Of those that already exist, they form common blocks. They form the basis of the recommendations, which are then sent to the Ministry of Transport, Public Works and Water Management and the Ministry of the Interior.
