The Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation announced the expansion of the list of parallel import goods. The Datsun brand, which stopped car production this spring, was also on the list.
The Datsun brand was revived in 2013 for emerging markets such as the CIS, India and Indonesia. Owner Nissan announced the closure of Datsun in 2019.
In 2020, the brand left Indonesia and Russia. India remained the last market for Datsun’s existence, but even there, in April 2022, the plant stopped producing cars for approx. reported local automotive publications.
In total, about 100 thousand on-DO and mi-DO vehicles were sold in Russia during the existence of the Datsun brand. In Russia, AvtoVAZ was launched, models were produced on the basis of Granta and Kalina.
