On July 13, AVTOVAZ announced that it would resume the assembly of Niva Legend SUVs – the model had indeed returned to the assembly line in Tolyatti, albeit in an “anti-crisis” configuration, without ABS and ERA-GLONASS. But with a small-scale adaptation of the Niva Bronto, you will have to wait longer: according to Avtograd News, the return of this version is still being postponed.
As you know, the Bronto version, which has improved off-road qualities, is not assembled at AVTOVAZ itself, but at a subsidiary of VIS-Auto. According to the source, so far only one SUV in a new, simplified version has been assembled in this factory – without ABS and ERA-GLONASS – and sent to the car test site in Dmitrov for certification.
Differential locks on the axle, suspension and reinforcement, off-road tires, sculpted arches, reinforced body, plastic (or rubber – in cheap versions) arch extensions and a characteristic “mask” of the front – this is Niva Bronto
According to forecasts, the resumption of the release of this change should not be expected before the fall of this year. Meanwhile, VIS-Auto has other problems: the source writes that for Granta-based vans, which the company also makes, there are not enough new steering wheels without airbags – just like for the regular Granta on the AVTOVAZ conveyor belt.
- As for the base model of the Niva Legend SUV, it is planned to assemble about 2,000 cars by July.
