A system to detect drivers who do not follow the rules and who do not have insurance could be launched this year. As I told you “To hit the primer” Maria Yakovleva, Director of the Yakovlev and Partners Law Group, said that traffic cameras will be used to detect such violators.
Law enforcement will scan license plates and check them against a database. If the vehicle is found to be uninsured, the driver will automatically be issued a ticket.
This process can be repeated daily, which can lead to fines of up to 25 thousand rubles per month. Yakovleva believes that the initiative will be considered in the Russian State Duma in early August and will probably come into force in the near future.
He also recommends drivers to keep track of the expiry date of their MTPL policies and renew them on time, as well as keep a copy of the current policy in the vehicle. In case of a system error, you will be able to appeal by providing all the necessary documents.
Previously in the State Duma offered issue driver’s licenses for a new period.
