A driver experiencing a strong feeling of hunger can cause dangerous situations on the road. Nutritionist and therapist Antonina Savolyuk talked about this in a conversation with the socialbites.ca correspondent.
“For a healthy adult, short-term hunger does not pose a threat, but you must understand that the stronger this feeling, the greater the discomfort. Discomfort is stress that depletes the resources of the nervous system and distracts attention,” the doctor warned.
Savolyuk noted that if the driver is frequently distracted due to his disturbed physiological state, this can lead to dangerous situations on the road. The doctor also added that feeling hungry is especially harmful for drivers with certain health problems.
“Fast becomes dangerous if the driver has some kind of carbohydrate metabolism disorder. For example, sugar can drop rapidly, meaning a sharp drop in concentration, even to the point of loss or confusion. Such people have the right to obtain a driver’s license, but their nutrition must be prioritized,” Savolyuk concluded.
