“Because it fits very well into the Lada Vesta engine compartment, is quite reliable and is designed for high torque. “The engine has a peak torque of 170 Nm and the gearbox is designed for at least 180 Nm,” said AvtoVAZ, answering the question of why CVT was chosen.

It is stated that the new CVT is similar to the Jatco JF015E, which was previously fitted to Lada cars when the brand was owned by Renault.
It also turns out that WLY CVT18 can often be found on Chery cars, so mechanics are very familiar with it. Tapered bearings broke on some cars of the Chinese company, but experts do not expect such problems on Lada due to easier operating conditions.
