Tariffs applied on the M-12 Vostok highway are economically justified and do not violate legal requirements. In this respect to write Izvestia cites the state-owned company Avtodor, which is tasked with analyzing wages.

Now the cost of travel for a passenger car from Moscow to Kazan along the M-12 will be 4,481 rubles, that is, 6 rubles 4 kopecks for the trip of 1 km of the paid section. If we take into account the maximum discount under the loyalty program, the trip will cost 3,809 rubles. For the trip from Arzamas to Kazan you will have to pay 1,660 rubles – 5 rubles 9 kopecks per 1 km.

Avtodor added that M-12 tariffs are comparable to tariffs for paid sections of the M-11 Neva.

“Journey service is a competitive market <…> One of the factors limiting tariff increases is competition with free highways, rail transport and aircraft. For a family of three, it is more profitable to travel by car to the cardinal directions (Moscow – St. Petersburg, Moscow – Kazan, Moscow – South). Compared to the free alternative (M-7 Volga), users save travel time,” the state-owned company explained.

Vladimir Putin in February this year instructed Avtodor and the government need to analyze tariffs on the M-12 Vostok highway. Proposals had to be sent to the president by March 15, 2024.
