The publication notes that today judicial practice is not in favor of drivers. In this regard, if the traffic light turns yellow, the person driving the car must stop. Otherwise, you will have to pay a fine for passing a prohibitory signal.
At the same time, traffic rules mention exceptional cases when the driver can still pass a yellow light.
“6.14. When the yellow signal is on or the traffic controller raises his hand, drivers who cannot stop without emergency braking in the places specified in paragraph 6.13 of the Rules are allowed to continue driving,” says the Traffic Regulations of Russia.
However, the magazine writes that this point is not taken into account in practice. So in February of this year, the Third Supreme Court of Appeals General Judicial Court accepted driving violation at yellow traffic lights. A Murmansk resident who ran a yellow light and had an accident asked for tolerance. He was fined 1 thousand rubles. The man’s request was not accepted. Regional and city courts will now rely on this decision.
Today, driving on a yellow signal is subject to a fine of 1 thousand rubles if it is the first such violation. If you violate again you will have to pay 5 thousand rubles. In the worst case, the driver’s license may be suspended for 4-6 months.
