To create conditions for bribery, unscrupulous traffic police inspectors can tell the driver various scenarios similar to the real consequences of crimes. Deputy Chairman of the National Automobile Association Anton Shaparin told socialbites.ca about this.

“If a driver turns across two straight lines, inspectors will often draw a diagram of the violation so that the violation can be classified as driving into the opposite lane where disenfranchisement is provided. Comments from the driver will not be accepted. The second controversial point is whether the plate, if dirty, was hidden intentionally or unintentionally,” Shaparin noted.

According to the norms of the Code of Administrative Offenses, if a driver turns from a straight marking line, he faces a fine of 1-1.5 thousand rubles, and if he drives at least a few meters ahead in the opposite lane, he will lose his driver’s license. The expert noted that in the case of unreadable or deliberately hidden license plates, the penalty can range from a fine of at least 500 rubles to deprivation of rights. Another manipulation is uncertified instruments for measuring alcohol intoxication.

“Often the inspector does not show the driver a certified breathalyzer, but his own breathalyzer, which shows the desired result. After that, the possibilities of corruption arise,” Shaparin concluded.
