“In January, there were rare events in the Russian automobile retail industry in the first month of the year. Three-quarters of the 20 most popular cars have fallen in price. The price of the universal all-terrain vehicle Lada Niva Travel fell the most: it became 7% more affordable compared to December 2023, and its price returned to 12 months ago. In contrast, in absolute figures, the BMW 5 Series sedan lost more than the others (136 thousand rubles or 2.3%),” the study emphasizes.

The price of the Renault Duster crossover also fell by 3% – in January it was sold for an average of 1.83 million rubles. The cost of Kia Sportage fell by 2%, similar dynamics were demonstrated by Lada Vesta, which can be purchased for 1.27 million rubles. The price tag of the Lada Granta model dropped to 922 thousand rubles last month.

Other popular models that dropped in price included two BMWs (3 Series and X5), two Toyotas (Land Cruiser Prado and RAV4), Nissan Qashqai, Kia Rio, Mercedes-Benz E-Class, Volkswagen Tiguan and Mitsubishi Outlander. The decrease in value was barely noticeable and in most cases did not exceed 1%.

It is noteworthy that the second-hand car market fell below 400 thousand units in January (minus 8% compared to the beginning of 2023). “Inaugural Car” explained that the downward trend in prices arose due to the decrease in market volumes and the increase in the car sales period for many models from 1 month to 40-45 days.

Previously automobile experts reportedHe said Chinese cars could become cheaper in the first quarter of 2024.
