The number of car collisions increases in winter. In winter, the share of such cases is over 55%, while in spring and summer it is only 45-47%. In this respect report Izvestia cites Sergei Demidov, vice president of auto insurance at Renaissance Insurance.
“Difficult weather conditions such as heavy snowfall or icing cause an increase in traffic accidents and therefore an increase in insurance compensation. The most common problems for drivers this winter are collisions with other vehicles (55%) and collisions with obstacles (21%), the expert said.
According to Demidov, cars are often damaged in parking lots, but the share of such accidents decreases compared to the warm season (20% versus 14%). This is because it becomes more difficult to notice car damage under snow.
Previously honored liberator Sergei Shchetinin saidWe think that if you know the road conditions and weather conditions in advance, you can prevent major traffic accidents in winter, and you should avoid traveling in bad weather conditions.
If an accident occurs, you need to examine yourself and those around you for damage. If there is no wound or bruising, you need to turn on the emergency signal, get out of the vehicle immediately and call 112. The expert also recommended keeping warm clothes and a reflective vest in the car in winter.
Previously reportedMore than 20 cars collided due to bad weather conditions on the M-4 Don highway in the Tula region.
