Korean company SsangYong has shared images of the new Torres crossover. The model, approximately 4.6 meters long, is built on a platform with a transverse engine and distinguishes itself from the “younger” Korando by a revolutionary exterior and interior design.

We see an angular car with a bold front and six vertical louvers between the headlights. Under the massive bumper, fog lamps are “drowned” in deep niches. From the side, the car resembles a Jeep with its large wheel arches. From the back, the Torres looks like a refreshed and slightly oversized Korando.

As for the interior, however, there are no similarities between the two SUVs. Torres has a modern cabin with three dashboard screens: one for the all-digital instrument panel, one for the infotainment system and one for HVAC (heating, ventilation and air conditioning) control.

The interior is also made in an angular and deliberately raw style, with many aluminum inserts and panels covered with eco-leather. Please note that the photo shows a car in the highest trim level.

SsangYong is not ready to reveal the specifications of the Torres yet, but it is already known that there is a Korando 1.5 liter four-cylinder turbo petrol engine with 168 hp under the hood. The car has front or four-wheel drive and a six-speed automatic transmission.

Torres offers 703 liters of luggage space, which can be increased to 839 liters with the luggage rack removed and to 1,662 liters with the second row of seats folded down. In the domestic market, even the base Torres is well equipped: it has heated front seats, LED headlights, a heated steering wheel and automatic climate control, and the interior is upholstered in leatherette.

Prices for South Korea are already known: depending on the type of drive and equipment, they range from 26.9 to 30.4 million won (in rubles terms – about 1.2-1.35 million rubles).

Pre-orders for Torres are set to be accepted in the domestic market in June. Torres’ electric vehicle, called the U100, will be launched for the European market at the end of 2023.
