Slovak carriers announced that the blockade on the Ukrainian border at the Vyshne Nemetskoe – Uzhgorod crossing point continues. This was reported by a local news portal Libra Regarding the Association of Road Transporters of Slovakia (UNAS).

According to the statement, the blockade will begin at 15:00 on December 11 and will continue until the demands of the protesters are met. UNAS’s main demand was the abolition of the “shipping visa-free regime” in force between the European Union and Ukraine, which allows Ukrainian carriers to cancel obtaining permission to operate in the EU market.

The document stated, “Entry into Slovakia’s territory for freight transportation will be blocked.”

The article also concludes that passenger traffic will not be affected by the restrictions.

On November 6, Polish carriers set off to obstruct Automobile checkpoints on the border with Ukraine. The reason for the protests was the loss of competition with Ukrainian carriers, which priced their services much cheaper. Later, the Poles were joined by Slovakian truck drivers.
