Consider this figure: for every Russian motorist there are almost five fines per year. By the way, in terms of the number of fines imposed on motorists, Russia confidently ranks first. It is therefore not surprising that the percentage “caught” is also very high. And probably on the way to rest, the most unpleasant option is to get caught on unpaid fines.
We are not even talking about malicious defaulters: very often a person simply does not know that he has to pay a fine, because he does not live at the place of registration, where a “letter of luck” arrived six months ago.
As we understand, the traffic police inspector who detained you will hardly listen to such nuances of your biography.
For an unpaid fine, additional liability is provided under Article 20.25 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Russian Federation:
A new double fine (but not less than 1,000 rubles), or administrative arrest up to 15 days, or compulsory labor up to 50 hours.
The specific decision is made by the court (please note!) at the location of your stop. That is, the inspector has the right to escort you to the local police station and then to court. That is rather sad if you are going to sea at this time in the company of your wife, children and dog. However, the traffic police inspector is also a person and is unlikely to detain an entire family because of one or two fines. However, keep in mind:
If you believe that the inspector’s actions are beyond the scope of jurisdiction, you can contact the Ministry of the Interior hotline at the toll-free number: 8-800-222-74-47. Tell the hotline operator the time, place, and other circumstances of the incident. The traffic police successfully combat unfair practices by inspectors.
Our advice: before a long journey, check that you have paid all the fines, otherwise you will not be able to spend your holiday on the beach, but in a detention center.
Happy Holidays!
And most importantly, study other traps that may be waiting for you on your way south.
