A man in Astrakhan wanted to take revenge on the driver who threw mud at him. He set the car on fire, but miscalculated and destroyed the criminal’s neighbor’s car. In this respect reports Russian Regional Ministry of Internal Affairs for the Astrakhan region.

Early in the morning, the police were informed that a VAZ car worth about 190 thousand rubles caught fire in the courtyard of a house in the Leninsky district, and the car was completely burned. Fire crews suggested that the fire could be caused by electrical contact in the vehicle or arson. Operators detained a resident of Astrakhan suspected of arson, who was convicted of damaging someone else’s property and a particularly serious crime.

The man said that the day before, while he was walking on the sidewalk to visit his friend, a car passing by got covered in liquid mud. A resident of Astrakhan saw a stranger parking his car in the garden where his friend lived and decided to set the car on fire in revenge. However, he mixed up the cars and set fire to the car of the criminal’s neighbor, who had a similar car.

A criminal case was initiated under Part 2 of Art. 167 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (intentional destruction or damage to property by arson). It is stated that the suspect may face up to 5 years in prison.
