The Ministry of Industry and Trade of Russia has prepared a draft amendment to the decision of the Government of the Russian Federation, which introduces additional requirements to ensure the passive safety of vehicles. In this respect report Izvestia, citing the press service of the department.
Therefore, vehicles manufactured from December 1, 2023 must be equipped with an anti-lock braking system (ABS). Production of such systems has already been established in Kostroma. It is suggested that the obligation to be equipped with passive security systems will become mandatory starting from 2025.
In addition, the document states that from February 1, 2024, vehicles produced in the Russian Federation must meet environmental standards not lower than “3”.
It is stated that the introduction of the rules is due to the continued pressure of external sanctions from the West and is aimed at stabilizing the work of the Russian automobile industry. The draft also proposes to extend the new rules to cars produced in Belarus and imported to Russia.
