China’s electric car BYD Seal has been included in the list of finalists of the prestigious Car of the Year 2024 award. List of main contenders for victory published competition jury.
Other finalists for the award included six models, including four electric crossovers: BMW 5 series, Kia EV9, Peugeot E-3008/3008, Renault Scenic, Toyota C-HR and Volvo EX30. The winner will be announced at the Geneva Motor Show on February 26.
The jury of the European Car of the Year competition includes 59 expert journalists representing 22 countries. Initially included in the list of contenders for victory including 28 models. At the end of last year, victory in the competition went to the Jeep Avenger, the first electric crossover in the brand’s history.
In Europe, the BYD Seal is offered in rear-wheel drive or all-wheel drive versions. The first develops 313 hp. The second one, which can travel 570 km on a single battery charge, has a 530 horsepower power plant and a range of 520 km.
