Before the start of the winter season, you should conduct a comprehensive diagnosis of your car, paying attention to the condition of the seals, make sure that there are no leaks of technical fluid and choose an oil with the required viscosity index. In this respect reports “Rossiyskaya Gazeta”, referring to Sergei Ponomarev, technical instructor of the Fit Service car service network.
“In winter, drivers need to pay attention to even the smallest things. Be sure to regularly check the condition and level of all technical fluids. Even slight perspiration of technical fluids at sub-zero temperatures can cause leakage and subsequent serious damage,” Ponomarev explained to the publication.
According to him, before starting in winter, the silent blocks in the suspension need to be replaced if cracks and tears begin to appear on them. The same should be done for worn CV joint boots and brake hoses, which can break completely, even with small cracks, at sub-zero temperatures. He also reminded that an oil with the appropriate viscosity index should be selected.
“In regions with seriously negative temperatures in winter, I recommend buying oil with an index of 0, and for residents of Krasnodar, oil with an index of 20W is suitable,” Ponomarev said.
