It is not yet clear what the Moskvich cars will be, which should start production this year. But half of the motorists liked the idea of reviving the Soviet brand. This was discovered by the holding company Romir, which interviewed 718 people over the age of 18.
Of these, 65% are not against buying Moskvich cars, which, as has been said repeatedly, will have an affordable price tag.
“Every second motorist is positive about Moskvich’s return,” TASS quotes the study material as saying. – We are willing to consider buying a Moskvich car 65% in the future. Most of them are guided by the price factor. 49% are willing to buy a car if it is cheaper than analogues. If Moskvich is a modified version from a foreign manufacturer, 47% will buy it. To support the domestic manufacturer, Moskvich is ready to buy every fifth motorist (21%). 5% would like to buy a car as they had this brand before.”
Only 24% of respondents are negative about the news of the revival of the Moskvich brand. Supporters of the return of Moskvich are mainly among motorists aged 60 and older – 57%. Young people are more reserved and the city council’s intention to return the brand is supported by 40% of people between the ages of 18 and 30.
“Now the majority of Russians have adapted to the economic situation. And in terms of import substitution, they are quite optimistic. And when it comes to the return of the legendary brand, nostalgia works too. Although Moskvich was not a luxury brand in Soviet times, it has developed a reputation as a reliable and durable car. It is not without reason that the majority of those who positively view Moskvich’s return are people of the older generation,” said Andrey Milekhin, president of the Romir holding.
