Russian smart traffic lights, which can control pollutant emissions from vehicles at intersections, attracted the attention of Saudi Arabian scientists. This was reported by RIA News With reference to the press service of the South Ural State University.

Scientists from SSU and colleagues from King Abdul-Aziz University in Jeddah agreed to finalize and implement the AIMS-Eco system, created under the leadership of Associate Professor of the Department of Automotive Transport Vladimir Shepelev.

The scientist explained that previously created methods worked based on statistical data, but such systems did not allow real-time study on environmental risks.

“Our Saudi Arabian colleagues have created technology that allows cars to transmit information to the outside world about where they are while driving and what their emissions class is. Integrating this technology into our platform will significantly increase the capabilities of both. The fact is that our cameras now only see the situation at the intersection, but this is not enough to analyze the situation on a section of the road network with a significant period of time,” shared Shepelev.

According to Ural scientists, the main harm that such vehicles cause to the environment is the delay of vehicles with internal combustion engines near traffic lights or in traffic jams. The joint work of Russian and Saudi experts will ensure the uninterrupted passage of vehicles from intersection to intersection.

Before that EU approved A law banning the sale of CO2-emitting vehicles by 2035.

It was previously known which cars were will stop supply To Russia after August 1.
