The recently observed decrease in the volatility of the ruble relative to world currencies will not cause a decrease in car prices. This was reported by Rossiyskaya Gazeta, citing industry experts, as well as heads of dealer holdings.
“This is explained by the fact that the pricing policy of automakers is influenced not only by the exchange rate, but also by a number of other factors. This includes an increase in recycling fees and logistics costs for transporting vehicles. Therefore, prices will not decrease, especially for models supplied through parallel imports,” independent transport industry expert Alexey Tuzov told the publication.
In turn, Andrei Olkhovsky, general director of the Avtodom group of companies, emphasized that the current dynamics of the ruble will not affect new car prices. According to him, this year the situation in the automobile market has undergone serious changes. Currently, the segment of cars produced in China accounts for 46% of total sales in the Russian market. Among all foreign auto supplies, Chinese cars account for 97%, and by the end of the year the share of Chinese-made cars will increase to at least 60%.
Evgenia Zhitnukhina, head of the dealership department of the Fresh car market, added that increasing logistics costs as new sanctions packages are implemented affect new car prices no less than the ruble exchange rate.
