A driver who is suspended from driving by traffic police inspectors on the grounds that he is drunk can avoid having his vehicle towed to a private parking lot. The vehicle will not be detained if there is a sober driver nearby who is included in the OSAGO policy. Sergei Radko, lawyer of the Freedom of Automobile Choice movement, told socialbites.ca.

“If there is a person with the right to drive next to the expelled driver, the vehicle can be handed over to him. Or if such a driver manages to reach the location of the car before the tow truck called by the inspectors. In all other cases, the car must be detained,” Radko said.

The lawyer added that the vehicle can be transferred to a relative or acquaintance of the driver only if the driver is allowed to use this vehicle, that is, if it is included in the compulsory traffic insurance policy.

“The time to call another driver is not regulated by documents. Who will get here faster: a tow truck or a licensed friend,” Radko concluded.

Former autocriminist Maxim Shelkov listed cars that will have problems when re-registered with the traffic police.
