The plant in the Kaluga region, where Volvo trucks will be produced until 2022, will be purchased by the Industrial Investments group of companies close to businessman Dmitry Strezhnev. In this respect reports Interfax cited a source familiar with the progress of negotiations on the deal.

According to him, the party to the transaction regarding the acquisition of the Volvo factory will be the recently established Automobile Motor Society JSC (AMO). It also considers the Ural automobile factory among its partners and allows the participation of a partner from an Asian country in the future.

“The company is investing in the restart of production at the plant in Kaluga and will ensure the localization of products to a level that will comply with the requirements of current legislation,” the agency source said.

According to him, it is planned to restart production at the plant in the Kaluga region in the near future, and the company’s personnel will be transferred to the AMO structure. AMO itself now joins the Industrial Investments group’s periphery.
