Half of Russian car owners change summer tires to winter tires on their vehicles after the average daily temperature drops below 5°C, and 27% do this only after the first snowfall. This was reported in a joint study by SberAuto and the Auto Mail.ru portal provided to socialbites.ca.
“Almost half of the car owners surveyed (49%) replace summer tires with winter tires according to the rules: as soon as the average daily temperature drops below 5 degrees. 27% of survey participants change their tires when it first snows. “11 percent of those surveyed are trying to do this in early October and 9 percent expect the rush to fit tires to die down.”
In September, 2% of vehicle owners change their vehicles for the winter. A share of 1% each falls to drivers who use all-season tires and drivers who rarely use their cars and do not change their tires during the season.
The survey also found that 53% of Russian motorists buy new winter tires based on wear and not service life, with 24% doing so after five or more seasons.
More than 3.5 thousand drivers from different regions of Russia participated in the survey.
