Wanting to provoke the violator to pay a bribe, traffic cops use various psychological techniques by inviting him to get into his car. Deputy Chairman of the National Automobile Union (NAU) Anton Shaparin told socialbites.ca about this.
“Each employee of the State Traffic Inspectorate has his own methodology. However, the common feature is the psychological escalation of the situation. The driver is told that serious consequences await him, they take out documents and begin to fill them out, supposedly to prepare a report. They say that nothing will be solved when the file is forwarded to the ministry. “We’re mostly talking about alcohol, drugs, so-called ‘withdrawal’ substances for crossing the street,” Shaparin explained.
According to the interlocutor, in conditions of psychological pressure, traffic inspectors want to ensure that the driver acts quickly, does not check the legislation, does not call phone numbers of lawyers. At the same time, he warned that traffic police officers may provoke the violator to accept bribes in order to expose him to criminal charges.
Shaparin pointed out that cameras installed in traffic police patrol cars will not help drivers protect themselves from unscrupulous traffic inspectors. He believes that cameras can become a tool in the fight against corruption only if the recordings are copied on third-party servers and various department employees can view them.
It was previously known that Chinese cars were the ones that crashed most often.
