BMW’s American division supplied A new BMW X2 crossover for the team participating in the Rebelle Rally, the women’s rally raid where the use of GPS navigators is prohibited.
The 1,300-mile race consists of 6 stages and will finish near the Mexican border on October 21. The race started at Mammoth Mountain resort in California. Experienced participants Rebecca Donagh and Sedona Blinson will perform in the prepared X2 crossover.
The basis of the racing car is the BMW X2 M35i with a 2.0 turbo engine producing 317 hp, an 8-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive. The car was given off-road wheels, a roof rack, towing eyelets and underbody protection. It is also equipped with additional light and emergency rescue equipment. The body of the car is covered with a protective film.
Rebelle Rally is known as the longest off-road race in the United States. Male athletes are prohibited from participating and the use of electronic devices for orienteering purposes is also prohibited.
