Gerhart Wissel, a lifelong engineer, lives near Lake Constance in southern Germany. He recently had a bicycle accident and can only get around with a walker. Since standard medical products only allow walking on level ground, a retiree who likes to walk in forests and fields designed an off-road version of the walker.
The device was given spoked wheels and off-road tires, an electric motor and brakes. It can be folded and placed in the trunk of a car. A local bike shop helped a retired engineer assemble the walker according to drawings.
