Taxi tariffs may change after the introduction of compulsory carrier liability insurance (OSGOP) for passengers in Russia. In this respect report Izvestia with reference to interviewed experts.

“OSGOP states that after insurance becomes mandatory, taxi car owners – taxi companies, individual entrepreneurs and self-employed people providing passenger transport services – will have to take out insurance themselves. “This will lead to additional costs for them and therefore affect travel costs,” Irina Zaripova, head of the public council responsible for taxi development, told Izvestia.

According to the deputy chairman of the interregional union of public transport workers “Taxi Driver” Andrei Popkov, the price of the MTPL policy for a taxi now costs more than 100 thousand rubles. The cost of an OSGOP policy will be significantly lower, but drivers often change their cars for one reason or another, so they will have to buy new insurance each time. In this case, all costs will be reflected in taxi fares.
