Automotive manufacturers collect customers’ personal data, including sexual activity, health, and facial expressions. In this respect informs non-profit organization Mozilla Foundation.

Analysts conducted a study and said that customers of 25 major auto companies in the US, Germany, Japan, France and South Korea have low levels of privacy. Customer data is collected through sensors, microphones, cameras, phones and devices that drivers connect to their vehicles, as well as through automotive apps, company websites, dealers and automotive telematics. Experts said companies can transfer this data to third parties, sell it and use it for their own purposes.

For example, Nissan agrees in its privacy policy to collect information about customers’ genetic data, sexual activity and health. Kia’s privacy policy states that the company may collect information about your sex life. Volkswagen collects demographic and driving behavior information (such as seat belt use).

Experts say many brands, including BMW, Ford, Toyota, Tesla, Kia and Subaru, can be blamed for neglecting the privacy of customer personal data. According to the research, Renault is the least problematic country in this respect. Analysts estimate that the market for personal data collected through cars could reach $750 billion by 2030.
