Georgia’s ban on automobile imports to Russia will have a positive impact on the domestic automobile market. This was told by Dmitry Rogov, the founder of the RogovMobil company, to socialbites.ca (specializes in turnkey delivery of cars from South Korea, Europe and Japan). According to the interlocutor, most of the cars delivered through Georgia were scrap from the North American market.
“The Georgian ban will be almost invisible in our market, unlike the Japanese ban. Basically, completely broken cars from the USA were transported through Georgia. It was at least restored and imported into Russia for resale. The situation is similar to Armenia, where cars are passing through Georgia,” he said.
The automobile expert noted that the share of cars imported through Georgia in our market is only one percent. Rogov added that the share of such machines in the Russian market last year and in the first half of this year was less than 2%.
Since August 1, Georgia has limited the export of hybrid and electric vehicles to Russia, as well as American cars with an engine capacity of 1.9 liters or more. The introduction of a ban on European cars became known in mid-August, although it was assumed that it would take effect on September 26. reported MASS MEDIA.
