Russian automaker Sollers will begin production of gearboxes at the industrial site of the Zavolzhsky Motor Plant (ZMZ). This is indicated in the message of the company received by socialbites.ca.

Serial production of the 6-speed manual transmission will begin in the second quarter of 2024. The company, which will assemble and test transmissions, plans to localize operations for casting and machining crankcases. In the future, it is possible to localize all the main parts of manual transmissions.

Sollers Transmission Production’s total production volume will be 7 thousand units in 2024, and it is planned to increase the production to 50 thousand units per year. The new transmissions will be fitted to Sollers light commercial vehicles and UAZ vehicles. Investments in the project will exceed 600 million rubles, about 100 jobs are planned to be created.
