Toyota has announced a technological breakthrough that will allow it to halve the weight, size and cost of batteries for electric vehicles. In this respect informs The Financial Times cites Keiji Kaita, head of the group’s carbon neutrality research and development centre.
The Japanese company said they were able to simplify the manufacture of the material used to make solid-state batteries. This discovery of concern has been called a step forward, which can significantly reduce charging time and increase driving range.
With the new technology, Toyota will be able to develop a solid-state battery that will give an electric car a range of 1,200 km and take less than 10 minutes to charge, according to Keiji Kite. The company expects to be able to mass-produce solid-state batteries in 2027-2028.
