New passenger and light commercial vehicle sales by official manufacturers and importers in Russia increased by 112.1% in May to 51.5 thousand units. This was reported in the publication of the Committee of Automobile Manufacturers of the Association of European Enterprises (AEB) in the Russian Federation, received by socialbites.ca.
According to the AEB, AvtoVAZ sold 23,900 vehicles per month compared to 6,000 in the previous year, increasing sales by 298%. In second place is Haval (about 7.6 thousand cars per month versus 892 in May 2022). Third is Geely, which sold about 7.1 thousand cars in May 2023.
The most popular car model was the Lada Granta. AvtoVAZ sold 17,000 of these vehicles in May 2023. It is followed by Lada Niva (more than 6.3 thousand cars), in third place is the Haval Jolion crossover (almost 4 thousand cars).
Among the ten most popular models on the Russian market were Geely Coolray and Tugella, Haval F7X and F7, Geely Atlas Pro, Haval Dargo, Changan CS35 Plus.
