In Russia, there is a shortage of technical specialists in the field of automotive repair, especially service stations are in dire need of auto mechanics and diagnostics of electronic systems. Irina Kulieva, HR director of the Fit Service car service network, spoke about this in an interview with socialbites.ca.

“If at the end of last year the number of candidates for a vacant position in the automotive sector was around 1.7, we already see 1.6 and 1.5 people in the first months of 2023. The situation is even worse among working personnel, who are also in demand at service stations. The indicator is currently at the 0.9 candidate level. In other words, less than one person applies for an open position on average across the country. This is significantly lower than the competition in many other areas,” said Irina Kulieva.

According to the expert, there is a shortage of auto mechanics and vehicle electronics systems diagnostics specialists most in the market. And this despite the fact that in 2022 the average salary of a car mechanic increased by 15% to 66 thousand rubles.

According to the expert, there are several reasons for the shortage of staff: for more than 20 years, the market has shifted from working specialties to office spaces, and the younger generation is often small in number, in addition, the population is affected.

Jan Haytseer, former Vice President of the National Automobile Association (NAU) said “socialbites.ca”, which says that the most popular methods of deception in car services today are the use of low-quality spare parts, topping up fake engine oil and demanding money from the customer for extraordinary work.
