Pakistani Minister of Religious Affairs Mufti Abdul Shakur died in a traffic accident in Islamabad. transmits TASS.

According to police, the incident occurred during Iftar, a Muslim dinner during the holy month of Ramadan. Mufti Abdul Shakur left the Marriott hotel on the street where most of the Pakistani government offices are located in his personal vehicle. At that time, a Toyota Hilux Revo pickup truck was hit by the driver’s car.

The minister, who was taken to the hospital after the accident, died in the hospital where he was taken. While the driver and passengers of the pickup truck were detained, the police launched an investigation into the incident.

Mufti Abdul Shakur has been a Member of the National Assembly of Pakistan (Lower House of Parliament) since 2018 and has been the Federal Minister of Religious Affairs and Interfaith Agreement since 2022.
