We are talking about a hybrid version of the fifth generation Kia Sportage with a capacity of 265 hp.

Its brother Hyundai Tucson PHEV also passed the “elk” test not too long ago.

Both crossovers have the same chassis and powertrain setup. They are equipped with a power plant consisting of a 1.6-liter four-cylinder turbo engine and an electric motor. Power is sent to all wheels via a six-speed automatic transmission. The crossovers that took part in the tests even had the same tyres: Michelin Primacys.

That makes sense kia The Sportage PHEV had to show the same result as the Hyundai Tucson PHEV. Indeed, the snake kia went exactly the same as Hyundai – accurate to tenths of a second. At the same time, as the pilot noted, it was easier and more pleasant to drive the Kia, which cannot be said about the “elk” test.

On the first attempt at 77 km/h, the Sportage PHEV knocked over the cones and did not want to return to the track after the maneuver. As a result, the speed of passing the test was 71 km / h, and the understeer, which you can see on the shots, is to blame for everything: with the wheels turned, the crossover continues to go straight.

The Tucson had no such drawback.
