Volkswagen Group went to court, demanding the cancellation of payments and fines collected from several customs offices in the Volga region. The amount of claims reaches about 300 million rubles, informs Autonews.ru with reference to the Arbitration Court of the Nizhny Novgorod Region.

So, Volkswagen from Kaluga customs demanded the return of over-collected customs payments and penalties in the amount of 143.4 million rubles, from Volga electronics customs – 131.6 million rubles and from Central electronic customs – 22.2 million rubles.

According to the case file, these three customs administrations carried out a desk audit of the company’s work in 2019-2020, and additional amounts were subsequently accrued for a significant part of the customs declarations. The report states that decisions on additional fees are dated 2022 and 2023.

According to Anatoly Semyonov, Director of the Parallel Import Association, the surcharges are not related to sanctions restrictions. The official suggested that the cases may be related to a change in the procedure for declaring imported goods, which affects most foreign companies operating in the Volga Federal District.
