The breathalyzer trap we drive ourselves into

Not everyone will be able to “blow out” correctly the first time the breathalyzer suggested by the inspector of the traffic police during the investigation of drunkenness. There is an important nuance that many people forget.

The fact is that breathalyzers do not have a self-cleaning function, and if you blow into such a device several times in a row, it will give inflated readings. As a result, a driver whose alcohol content in the exhaled air is actually below the permitted 0.16 mg / l may suffer.

The error is typical – the device does not display the result the first time, which means that you have to blow into it again … And again. Do not do it! Alcohol vapors settle on internal surfaces every time – and with each new attempt there are more, which affects the result!

Remember that the breathalyzer records the result of a continuous exhalation that lasts longer than 5 seconds. It doesn’t matter how hard you blow, the air volume doesn’t matter. All it takes is one (!) long exhalation.
