The location of the Porsche and Ferrari automakers was the reason why the Italian and German authorities decided to block the ban on the sale of internal combustion engine cars in the EU until 2035. It has been reported Bloomberg.

Luxury sports car companies are seeking an exemption for synthetic electric fuels, or e-fuels, amid the EU’s planned 2035 ban on new internal combustion engine vehicles. Journalists note that in Germany and Italy, Porsche and Ferrari are considered “national symbols”, so their position may force the governments of these countries to change their decision within a few days on a complete ban on internal combustion engines.

Earlier on March 1 reported Italy will oppose the ban on the sale of ICE vehicles in Europe.

“Italy shares its decarbonisation targets, but considers it necessary to achieve environmental targets through an economically sustainable and socially just transition to avoid negative consequences for the country in terms of employment and productivity,” the Italian environment ministry said in a statement.
